Michelle is an experienced business leader with broad international and cross-functional expertise gained over a long career in large and complex financial institutions. She has led transformational change in challenging business and macro environments, placing emphasis on organisational culture, developing people and strong risk management.
Michelle served as CEO of Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) from 2019 to 2024. LGIM is a major global investor across public and private markets with €1.35 trillion of assets under management. Before joining L&G, Michelle was CEO, EMEA, at Columbia Threadneedle Investments and a member of the Executive Leadership Team of Ameriprise Financial. Prior to that, she was Chief Risk Officer at M&G Investments and a Director of M&G Group Limited, whom she joined in 2012 after a successful career at BlackRock and its predecessor firms, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Mercury Asset Management.
Michelle has served as Deputy Chair of the Investment Association, Chair of the UK Government’s Asset Management Taskforce Technology Working Group and was a member of the FCA’s Practitioner Panel. She co-chaired the COP26 Business Leaders Group with the COP President in 2021 and was a founder member of the GFANZ CEO Principals Group.
Michelle was awarded a CBE in 2025 for services to the Asset Management industry.
